Five Branches University, Graduate School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of, if not the leading college of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the U.S. offering ten graduate and postgraduate programs in Traditional Chinese Medicine including a 4-year dual-degree Doctor and Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine degree program; and a postgraduate 2-year Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree program. Five Branches University is nationally accredited and is proud of maintaining the highest passing rate in the California licensing exams. We are a vibrant and growing college and are in need of a Medical Billing Expert to serve a minority of the 180 patients a day who have medical insurance and are treated in our clinics in San Jose and Santa Cruz.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Teamwork

As Director of Medical Billing, you will process insurance billing and guide front desk personnel and practitioners in gathering the key information needed for successful billing and reimbursement. With the Clinic Director and Manager, you will be part of the leadership team to contribute to the growth of the clinic.

Using the Clinic’s Lytec software, you will prepare and submit claims to Third Party payers (government, commercial, worker's comp, private insurance and patient billing), verify eligibility with insurance companies, and contact clinic staff and practitioners for missing information (demographics, diagnosis codes etc.) You will also research state websites and establish contacts at different agencies to ensure access to the most up-to-date information.

Start Date and Compensation

The position is available immediately (May 1, 2018), and compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. We offer in-house TCM health benefits.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of prior experience billing third party payers

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinic software

  • Extensive problem-solving capabilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Knowledgeable in multi-payer provider portals to access claim information

  • Comfortable with multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines and monthly goals

  • Enjoys working independently; and cooperatively with staff and practitioners

  • Must be able to smile and have fun while exceeding goals.

  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Chinese an advantage

  • Knowledge of acupuncture billing and advantage
