When she was 18, she moved to Indonesia for a year, and it was there that she came into contact with TCM for the first time. Fascinated by the different healing practices she was observing and experiencing, she enrolled in Swansea University, Wales, to study cultural anthropology with an emphasis on Maritime South East Asia. After earning her B.Sc. Econ, she moved to Japan for 3 years. It was there that she really began to understand the nuances of a system where both Eastern and Western medicine are practiced along side each other. She trained in Aikido from a Master of Martial Arts, and a practitioner of TCM. It was at this time, and under Kubota-sensei’s guidance that she began seriously studying TCM. In 1996, she moved to the US, and enrolled at Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and graduated four years later with a Masters in TCM. She went on to take the National and California State licensing exams, and has now set up her practice in San Jose, CA.
